Aqeeqah

Aqeeqah is a traditional Islamic ceremony that celebrates the arrival of a newborn into the family and wider community. It involves the sacrifice of an animal—commonly a sheep or goat—as an offering to Allah, symbolizing gratitude and devotion.

The meat is then distributed among family members, neighbors, and those in need, reflecting the Islamic values of compassion and generosity. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged this practice as a meaningful way to give thanks to Allah.

The chosen animals, typically sheep or goats, carry deep symbolic meaning—representing purity, innocence, and abundance—qualities parents wish to nurture in their child as they begin their journey through life.

Qurbaan

Qurbaan, also known as Qurbani or the Eid al-Adha sacrifice, is a significant Islamic tradition carried out during the annual festival. It honors the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son Isma’il in obedience to God’s command.

Muslims around the world observe this act by sacrificing an animal—usually a sheep, goat, cow, or camel—and distributing the meat among family, friends, and those in need.

This practice symbolizes worship, gratitude, and a deep sense of unity and compassion within the community.
